D-SPOT
What is D-SPOT
D-SPOT (Wireless LAN System) is the system which collects positional data from terminal devices on moving objects (such as vehicles) via wireless LAN communication. For example, by combining with "Traffic Flow Measurement System", probe data can be automatically collected from moving objects (bus vehicles) within the wireless LAN communication area without the cost for your communication carrier. It is far less expensive compared to collecting data via communication cards (communication line) installed on each vehicle, and implements stable probe data collection.
Datawest provides support all through development of D-SPOT-related devices, installation and setting, and system administration.
D-SPOT2006
  D-SPOT Evolved and Upgraded.
D-SPOT (2006 version) basic package is same as D-SPOT (2005 version), but with improved functions.
•  Improved security : Security function is strengthened to address wireless LAN becoming widely used by general users.
•  Expansion of the data transmission area : Communication area is expanded from 60m to 80m in radius (*Subject to vary depending on the transmission environment).
•  Improved communication quality : More stable data collection is enabled.
Extension software for the Traffic Flow Measurement System is now available.
•  Wireless LAN spots are rapidly becoming common around stations and in residential areas.
•  With the extension software, D-SPOT's wireless LAN communication area can be limited to eliminate irregular communication.
•  Your current Traffic Flow Measurement System (for D-SPOT) can be extended.
•  The extension can be used along with D-SPOT (2006).
D-SPOT[Wireless LAN System]
D-SPOT
•  This system requires a terminal device (e.g. Traffic Flow Measurement System) + wireless LAN unit, and D-SPOT external antenna unit (communication base station) in the vehicle waiting area.
•  One D-SPOT external antenna unit normally serves and manages 30 (or 100 max.) terminal devices.
•  Only one communication line, for one D-SPOT external antenna unit, is used.
•  Although a communication unit or a communication card (1 line) was needed per vehicle previously, with D-SPOT, up to 100 terminal devices can be processed with only one communication line.
•  Because this system requires network/communication settings, etc., Datawest provides installation and setting, administration, and maintenance services of the devices (Traffic Flow Measurement System and D-SPOT antenna). Your expenses for such services will vary depending on your environment. Please contact us for quotes.
•  Probe data collection server is maintained and administered by Datawest.
There is no need for expensive initial cost of server equipments, optical line costs, and server maintenance costs.
•  With only the minimal fee, probe data collection server can be made available for your use, and there is no initial costs, such as costs of server equipments and of creating dedicated software. You can expect significant cost reduction with D-SPOT (ASP supported).
